Mission Statement

To provide the most efficient and effective management of projects in the shortest, safest duration.  Repeatedly achieve the client's goals while growing our profitable business.

My Business Why

I created Forward Leading Constructors Inc. for this reason.  What I value and what industry values are very different.  We believe in owning the right mindset and right actions to produce results with the least financial impact to clients.  We want to do your heavy lifting!

Not long after starting my career, the Vice President of the company came into my office one day and said, “Whenever you are seeking the solution to a problem, view the problem from every aspect and reach the correct solution”.  Concepts I live by.

While employed by the third company, I had the privilege of working with a project manager who asked the same rhetorical question every day, which was “What level of incompetence are we striving for today?”  This serves as a reminded to continually seek the best solution for a given issue.  Eventually, I worked for another great company whose Owner believed in his employees so much that he paid for multiple levels of Rapport Leadership training.  He walked the talk and inspired everyone.

Therefore, it boggles my mind and frustrates me when I encounter people and companies who do what they have always done, underachieving and wasting hundreds of millions in revenue, because it suits their revenue model while avoiding all risk and any real success.  I always strive for the most thorough and proactive strategy while mitigating impacts to generate the best results for clients.  These are my drivers and motivations.  I love building, solving problems and achieving.  This is why you should hire my company to help you achieve your corporate goals.

Corporate History

The principle has over 20 years of successful project and construction management experience within the Oil Sands, Petrochemical, Refinery, Pipeline and Heavy Civil Sectors including Plant Shutdowns

The scope of our projects have ranged from deep underground systems, roads, overpasses, plant process systems, electrical and instrumentation systems, substations, structural steel, vessels, rotating equipment, tanks, instrumentation, module fabrication, insulation and multiple shutdowns.

What is important, innovative safety and execution solutions were developed and implemented when engineered solutions were not available, allowing the projects to be completed on time.

Agile management buzz word tossed about today means little when one practices the art for 15 years while having the wherewithal of foresight and desire.

Valuable experience has been obtained at these facilities and projects; Dow Chemical, Celanese Canada, AT Plastics, Genesee Power, Labatt, Husky Refinery, EnCana - CO2 Compressor Project, Syncrude Base Plant, Syncrude Mine - NMAPS, Suncor Extraction, Suncor Upgrading, Suncor U&O, Suncor Mine, Syncrude - Aurora Train II, Syncrude – UE1 Project, Albian Sands, Imperial Oil – Kearl Lake, Shell - NST Pilot Plant, Kirby North, ConocoPhillips - 103 Well Pad, Nova Chemicals, Yara - Belle Plain Expansion, to list a few.

Corporate Culture

Regardless of one's skin color, gender, orientation or religious beliefs. Our corporate culture is based on the following principles; Respect for Ourselves, Respect for Others, Integrity, Empowerment, Open Communication, Honest Communication, Diplomacy, Informal Discussions, Desire to Achieve, Accountability, Work Ethic, Analytical Thought, Forward Progressive Thought and Enjoyment.

“Real Teamwork is a combination of “efforts,” “attitude” and “desires” of its members. To hold each other accountable. Use of active listening and understanding.  Understanding a situation from multiple perspectives.  Encouraging those “Aha” moments from individuals. Helping each other grow and be better today than they were yesterday!

Regardless of a person's position within the company, these are our expectations, which apply to everyone. We must be able to celebrate the success of our safety program, while being able to recognize a mistake and correct it.

We focus on finding that the One Best Solution!  Instead of being hung-up pointing fingers. Anybody can find fault, it takes a better person to accept responsibility and solve the issue.

I'll reference the Great Theodore Roosevelt's "Arena" Quote
